Updates: (via Distrowatch)
NuTyX Thierry Nuttens has announced the release of NuTyX Pakxe, a highly customisable, rolling-release French Linux distribution designed for intermediate and advanced Linux users. This is the project's fifth stable release, but the first one which includes support for 64-bit architectures. All packages have been compiled with GCC 4.6.0 and against glibc 2.13, and the entire backend which builds binary packages has been re-worked to better identify the dependencies and to build high quality packages ready for installation. Desktop environments include KDE 4.6.3 and Xfce 4.8, but GNOME is no longer available due to lack of a package maintainer (volunteers are welcome).

Visit the distribution's home page to read the detailed release announcement (in French). Download the tiny "netinstall" image which offers complete control over which packages get installed: NuTyX_i686-pakxe.iso (16.0MB, MD5), NuTyX_x86_64-pakxe.iso (16.0MB, MD5). Pre-built live DVD images with KDE pre-installed are available via BitTorrent only. Thierry Nuttens has announced the release of an updated version of NuTyX, a French desktop distribution built from Linux From Scratch and using a custom package management tool borrowed from CRUX. Changes since Attapu: the live media allows hard disk installation via a graphical installer; KDE has been upgraded to version 4.5.4; it is now possible to generate a live CD/DVD image from an installed system; a "MINI" edition has been re-introduced, it allows installation of extra applications via Internet; during installation seven kernel options are available, covering a greater number of hardware combinations; the maintenance interface has been revised and simplified, now using the JWM window manager by default; an available swap partition is now automatically detected and configured....

Please visit the project's home page (in French) to read the full release announcement.

Download the live CD (with Xfce) or the live DVD (with KDE): NuTyX_i686-attapu.1-LIVE-XFCE.iso (592MB, MD5), NuTyX_i686-attapu.1-LIVE-KDE.iso (3,320MB, MD5).
